SampleTank 3 FREE and the full version work nicely on the Mac, but the same rule regarding legacy products applies, so with the FREE version of SampleTank 3, you only have the FREE instruments. Īnd the FREE version of SampleTank 3 does not support the IK Multimedia legacy products like Miroslav Philharmonik. Surf.Whammy wroteUnless something has changed recently, SampleTank 3 (IK Multimedia) does not work with NOTION 5 in the Windows universe. Though I am generally happy with the sounds I already have, better sectional and solo strings, for instance, with vibrato, non-vib. That is where the Miroslav comes in with probably comparable vocal sounds, but with 7 GB more of other sounds (presumably better in general than my sound libraries) for roughly 30 USD more. Vis-a-vis the product configurations and prices on the market, however, I was tending to, temporarily at least, settle for reasonable quality S+A and T+B sections and forget about the soloists and was lately considering Olympus Micro Choir at 30 USD. I have been yearning for quite some time for good quality sounds (ahs, ohs, etc not interested in word-building) for each of the SATB sections and soloists. It is the vocal sounds that are basically absent from both my libraries. Though I do have the general impression, from what I read and listen to, that Miroslav on the whole is regarded as somewhat superior to the libraries that I already have (Notion 5 and GPO4), this was not the initial reason for considering the purchase. Notion Sounds are pretty good with some limitation that really aren't that limiting if effects are provided outside of Notion. Sending Notion Sounds out its various busses into an audio soundcard with multi-outs will provide real-time performance advantages a computer just cannot handle. I'd skip the Miroslav and get a hardware mixer and external fx processing.

Using external effect processing can make Notion Sounds quite professional sounding. (Notion Sounds have ultra fast load times). Using Notion to its fullest can produce very good results without the hang-ups of 3rd party vsti and the advanced Custom Rule document needs. Notion Sounds have IMO better built-in technique and sound control. Johnnewberry wroteI use a lot of different vsti makers products.ĭon't have the Miroslav however, I suggest the Notion sounds are just as good if used for their
